How does System Status optimize my battery life and is there anything like "trickle charge" offered by other apps?

Other apps are very "good" at marketing and telling you how essential they are to improve your device’s battery life. The truth is:

No app can influence the charging process which is fully under the iOS control. The only thing apps can do is to report:

  1. Charge percentage (reported by iOS in 5% increments only)
  2. Battery state (unknown, unplugged, charging, full)

It’s assumed that when app reports 100% but the battery state is still in the "charging" state, iOS preforms the trickle charge. The reason System Status does not report this as "trickle charge" is that nobody really knows what iOS does so it is safer to report just the information iOS provides.
